Dr. Mohammed Alshawsh is currently working as Professor at Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. His current research interests mainly focus on pharmacological investigations of flavonoids, polyphenols, probiotics and their role in the management of colorectal cancer, obesity, diabetes, and fatty liver diseases as well as investigating the underlying molecular mechanisms of actions and signalling pathways. Extensive experience in the area of synergistic drug combinations and toxicology including acute, subacute, and chronic toxicity, genotoxicity, teratogenicity and postnatal developmental toxicity. Dr. Alshawsh is a scientist member of Faculty of Medicine-Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (FOM-IACUC)-University of Malaya. He serves as Associate Editor for the Journal “BMC Complementary Medicine and Therapies”. He supervised 10 PhD and 3 Master students to completion; currently, he is supervising 6 PhD and 3 Master students. He has published over 65 papers in peer-reviewed journals with an h-index of 16 and has given over 20 invited and plenary lectures at international conferences as well as facilitated more than 20 national and international workshops. He has obtained several research grants, such as UMRG, BKS, PPP, PRGS and FRGS.
