Dr. Mohammed Alshawsh is currently working as Associate Professor at the Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. His current research interests mainly focus on pharmacological investigations of flavonoids, polyphenols, probiotics, and their role in the management of colorectal cancer, obesity, diabetes, and fatty liver diseases as well as investigating the underlying molecular mechanisms of actions and signaling pathways. Experienced in the area of synergistic drug combinations and toxicology including acute, subacute, and chronic toxicity, genotoxicity, teratogenicity, and postnatal developmental toxicity. Dr. Alshawsh is a scientist member of the Faculty of Medicine-Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (FOM-IACUC)-University of Malaya. He serves as Associate Editor for the Journal “BMC Complementary Medicine and Therapies”. He supervised 10 Ph.D. and 2 Master students to completion; currently, he is supervising 5 Ph.D. and 3 Master students. He has published over 50 papers in peer-reviewed journals with an h-index of 14 and has given over 20 invited and plenary lectures at international conferences as well as facilitated more than 15 national and international workshops. He has obtained several research grants, such as UMRG, BKS, PPP, and FRGS.
